Shocking Allegations: Newton School Bus Driver Accused of Kidnapping Children
In a disturbing turn of events, a Newton school bus driver has been indicted on kidnapping charges, sparking outrage and concern within the community. The allegations against Justin Vose, 42, of Bedford, have sent shockwaves through the local education system, raising questions about the safety and well-being of the children entrusted to his care.

Uncovering a Troubling Pattern of Misconduct

Allegations of Inappropriate Conduct

The charges against Vose stem from allegations of inappropriate conduct while he was employed as a bus driver for the Newton Early Education Childhood Program and Transportation for Newton Public Schools, which was contracted through JSC Transportation. According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, the investigation into Vose's actions was launched on May 28, 2024, after one student showed up late to the Newton Early Education Childhood Program.

When the bus company checked the driver's GPS location, it allegedly revealed that Vose had entered the parking lot but instead of dropping the child off, he "drove to a secluded portion of the parking lot near the tree line," according to prosecutors. This discovery prompted a deeper investigation into Vose's conduct, which uncovered a disturbing pattern of behavior.

Allegations of Kidnapping and Inappropriate Behavior

The investigation later revealed that Vose had driven three victims, between the ages of 3 and 5, to secluded areas on "multiple occasions" and "turned off the audio and video recording in his bus for up to 20 minutes at a time," prosecutors said. At no time did the school district, parents of the students, daycare, or bus company authorize Vose's change in route or one-on-one time with the victims, investigators noted.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, a search of Vose's phone also revealed that he had taken photos with the victims, further raising concerns about his intentions and the potential harm he may have caused to the children in his care.

Facing the Consequences

Vose was arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn, where he pleaded not guilty to three counts of kidnapping. A judge set his bail at ,000, and imposed strict conditions, including home GPS confinement, no unsupervised contact with kids under 18, no employment or volunteer work with kids under 18, and a requirement to stay away from and have no contact with the victims and witnesses.

The allegations against Vose have sent shockwaves through the community, leaving parents and educators alike grappling with the unsettling reality that the very individuals entrusted with the safety and well-being of their children may have betrayed that trust. As the legal proceedings unfold, the focus will undoubtedly remain on ensuring the protection of the vulnerable children involved and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
