Soaring to New Heights: Louisiana Tech Tennis Secures Promising Transfer Addition

Louisiana Tech Tennis head coach Amy Sargeant has finalized her 2024-25 roster with the signing of Nina Skoric, a transfer from the University of Houston. Skoric, a 5-foot-6 right-hander from Paris, France, brings a year of college experience and a game-style that is sure to challenge her opponents.

Unlocking the Potential of a Rising Star

Proven Collegiate Experience and Competitive Spirit

Skoric spent her freshman season with the Cougars, where she played at the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions in singles. Despite her young age, she has already demonstrated a strong competitive spirit and a willingness to improve her game. Her performance during the fall season, which included victories at the Houston Invite, Rice Invite, and the Big 12 Individual Championships, showcases her ability to excel at the collegiate level.Sargeant, the Louisiana Tech Tennis head coach, is excited about Skoric's addition to the team, stating, "Nina brings a year of college experience to LA Tech and a game-style that is going to make her opponents hate tennis. What I admire about Nina is her love for the game, willingness to improve, and competitive spirit. She will bring energy, grit, and a team-before-self mentality."

Embracing the Challenge of Facing Nationally Ranked Opponents

In the spring season, Skoric faced a formidable challenge, competing against seven nationally ranked teams, four of which were in the top 25. Her first collegiate win in dual singles came at North Texas, where she defeated Marina Adati in a hard-fought three-set match, showcasing her resilience and ability to adapt to high-pressure situations.Prior to her collegiate career, Skoric honed her skills by competing with the French Federation Ligue Tennis Haut de Seine and Occitanie, further bolstering her experience and preparation for the rigors of Division I tennis.

Choosing Louisiana Tech: A Compelling Vision and Promising Future

Skoric's decision to join the Louisiana Tech Tennis program was influenced by the compelling vision and leadership of Coach Sargeant. "Coach Sargeant's words and vision of tennis were very convincing to me and made my choice very obvious," said Skoric. This endorsement from the talented transfer student underscores the program's ability to attract and develop top-tier talent. As Louisiana Tech Tennis looks to the future, the addition of Nina Skoric represents a significant step forward. Her combination of collegiate experience, competitive spirit, and coachability make her a valuable asset to the team. With Skoric's arrival, the Bulldogs are poised to elevate their performance and make a lasting impact on the collegiate tennis landscape.
