The incident began around 1 p.m. on Thursday when the suspect, Omarion Rayshawn Steward, allegedly stole a 2014 Toyota Camry miles away and nearly three hours earlier. According to arrest warrants, Steward had arranged a meeting with the victim under the guise of conducting a transaction, but upon arrival, another person approached the vehicle and pointed a gun at the victim, who then fled the scene. Steward and the armed individual then left in the stolen car.Later, Deputy Christopher Brown and other deputies located the stolen vehicle and attempted to recover it, leading to a high-speed pursuit. The chase culminated in the suspects intentionally ramming the patrol car carrying Deputy Brown, causing serious injuries to the officer.

Deputy Christopher Brown, a veteran of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office since 2010, has served in various roles, including jail officer, jailer, peace officer, investigator, and deputy.
